Take a stroll through the centre of British politics, church and royalty and the home of the nation's historical psyche. You will see Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament(with the inside story by a BBC political journalist), Westminster Abbey (site of coronations for 1,000 years and Princess Diana's funeral in 1997), Churchill's wartime underground bunker (with original soundtracks), 10 Downing Street and London's military parade ground, finishing in the delightful St James's Park.
Starting point: Outside Westminster tube station, Exit 4, opposite Big Ben.
Finish by 11.00am to see the Horse Guards.
